A Note From Tess
I didn’t start Clean Slate as a scientist in a lab (see my disclaimer below). I started it as a home cook who cares deeply about health. For years, I went down rabbit holes trying to find the best products for my kitchen, thinking I was making safe choices. But the deeper I researched, the more I realized I had been doing it all wrong.
My professional background is in sustainability, where I saw firsthand how materials, regulations and corporate decisions impact health and the environment.
Clean Slate is the resource I wish I had when I was trying to sort through conflicting advice and hidden risks. Now, instead of endless rabbit holes, Clean Slate delivers the science in plain language so you can make safer choices without the overwhelm. As someone who feels most alive outdoors in the mountains, surrounded by fresh air and snowpack, I wanted my kitchen to reflect that same sense of clarity and simplicity. Clean Slate is my way of bridging those two worlds: science, nature and everyday living.
